Tips for travelling around Australia

Australia is a beautiful place and because of our short winter and long summer it can be a great place for a travelling adventure holiday.

Here are 7 tips to help make your Australian adventure holiday a bit more fun.

1) Make sure that you do plenty of planning and plenty of research. There are some amazing things to see however some of them are very remote and can quite often be impacted by the seasons. Make sure that you know when the best times to visit specific places are and make sure that you understand potential seasonal impacts.

2) Take physical printed maps with you, don't just rely on electronics. Despite having good mobile service throughout Australia there are definite black spots in some areas and you may encounter these while travelling around. Don't rely on your phone or ipad for a map as you may be let down when you least need it.

3) Take a first aid kit and know how to use it. If you are hundreds of kilometres away from the nearest doctor it can be extremely useful to have a decent first aid kit on hand if something goes wrong.

4) Tell people where you are going to be. Post it up on social media and tell people when you expect to be at your next destination. If something goes wrong then someone will be able to raise the alarm.

5) Take a reliable vehicle and make sure it has been serviced recently. The last thing that you want is to break down hundreds of kilometres from the nearest town or mechanic. If you take a campervan then make sure that you get it from a reputable provider (like autosleepers).

6) Take plenty of food and water with you. A bit of a no brainer, if you do get stuck somewhere while travelling around then make sure that you have plenty of supplies with you to last until help arrives.

7) Take a decent tent or campervan on your trip around Australia. You will enjoy your adventure more if you have some decent equipment with you.

If you decide to rent a campervan for the trip then Autosleepers have a range of vans that are suitable for groups from 2 to 6 people. Drop us a line or give us a call to find out more.
