Camping Tips:

*Pre-book: planning and pre-booking a campervan, weeks (or sometimes even months) in advance to your holiday can ensure a smooth, satisfying trip. Consider the time of year you are going – the summer season, and school holiday times are likely to be the busiest/peak seasons. Pre-booking allows you to secure the exact dates you want for your vacation, and avoid disappointment.

*Consider weather conditions: this one is pretty self-explanatory, but consider the normal weather patterns both for the area you are planning to camp in, as well as the time of year you are travelling. If you are planning a coastal getaway then the spring or summer time would likely be perfect, if you prefer fresh air and roasting marshmallows around a camp fire, then the cooler months would suffice. Also, consider your safety and the safety of your family or fellow travellers before your trip –do so by being alert and aware of weather warnings. Steer clear of Australian camping hotspots if there are warnings of extreme conditions at the time of your trip: flooding, bushfire, cyclones etc.

*Make a list: If you're unsure of what to bring, check out our comprehensive list of 'things totake'.

Start with the camping essentials(shelter, bedding, cooking supplies, first aid) and work your way down to other things to make a memorable holiday (camera, entertainment, personal items, camp chairs). It can help to lay out your items before packing them away, as you're able to visualise if you're leaving anything behind. Luckily, if you have forgotten anything, a campervan allows you to make a quick pit stop at the shops.

*Know where you're staying: This one goes along with the notion of 'pre-booking' to avoid disappointment. Thankfully, all our vans come equipped with maps andtourist information, and caravan park discounts. If you know where you'll be camping, and plot it out beforehand, you'll also more likely be able to judge weather conditions ahead of time.

*Plan plan plan: PLAN petrol stops, grocery trips and anything else of necessity. This is especially important if you're planning to travel off the beaten track. Ensure you have sufficient access to gas, food and water between stops, or in emergency situations.
